Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were careful not to spill strong opinions on Matt Hancock while discussing the politician’s stint on I’m A Celebrity 2022 after the series came to an end.
On Sunday evening, fan-favourite and Euros 2022 champion Jill Scott was crowned Queen of the Jungle, with Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner being named the runner-up and the former health secretary finishing in third place
Fourth place star Mike Tindall was granted the honour of placing the crown on Jill’s head, before the cast reunited at the hotel in Australia, ahead of the glamorous wrap party and intimate final meal.
As they prepared to journey back to the UK, Ant and Dec were asked at the airport to share their views on this season just gone, with the pair affirming it’s been ‘the best series for years’.
However, they seemed to hold back when questioned about Hancock, with Dec saying: ‘Yeah, well that was an interesting one, wasn’t it? Yeah, he did very well in there. Obviously coming third.’
Speaking to The Mirror, Dec was asked if he felt nervous to interview the MP, replying: ‘It was a bit of a different one, but no, not very nervous because, you know, it was all within the context of the show. So yeah, that was really interesting.’

Ant, meanwhile, didn’t share his own personal views on Hancock’s appearance in the jungle, simply answering: ‘I just think the whole series has been good, you know. It’s been great,’ before heading to his departure gate.
Speaking about the programme on the whole, he added: ‘Yeah it was the best for years. Loved it. Absolutely loved it.’
The presenter praised Jill as a ‘good winner’, adding that they would have also been happy if Owen had snapped up the crown.

This week, Hancock is set to face MPs in Parliament for the first time since returning from the jungle.
A spokesperson for the politician said: ‘The second reading of Matt’s Dyslexia Screening and Teacher Training Bill is in Parliament on Friday December 2 – just days after the final of I’m A Celebrity.
‘By going on the show, Matt has raised the profile of his dyslexia campaign and has used the platform to talk about an issue he really cares about in front of millions of people.’
While Hancock did eventually speak about dyslexia in camp, he received criticism for not doing so earlier when he previously cited raising awareness of the disability as one of his main motivations for joining the programme.
His spokesperson continued: ‘Matt is determined that no child should leave primary school not knowing if they have dyslexia.
‘Matt will be making a donation to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk and causes supporting dyslexia – including the British Dyslexia Association, off the back of his appearance.’
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2022 is available to watch on ITV Hub.
