Thousands of Amazon employees in the USA want to stop working. The trading group had refused to negotiate. In Germany, a Christmas strike in another industry was averted.
There is no better time for the workers to go on strike, their leverage is great: The US online retailer Amazon is facing a massive strike in the crucial days before Christmas. Thousands of Amazon employees in the USA plan to stop work on Thursday at 6 a.m. local time, shortly before the busiest days of the year, the Teamsters union announced.
On the short message service X (formerly Twitter), the union wrote that the employer Amazon was solely to blame for the strike. In their post, they addressed customers directly: “If your delivery is delayed, you can blame Amazon’s insatiable greed. We gave Amazon a deadline to sit down with us at the negotiating table and behave decently towards us. They ignored the deadline,” said Teamsters President Sean M. O’Brien.
