Alan Wake 2 – will we see more over the summer? (pic: Remedy Entertainment)
The sequel to Alan Wake is supposedly content complete and aiming for an autumn release this year, according to the voice of Alan himself.
Unlike some games, there’s never been any public delay for Alan Wake 2 and everything that’s ever been said about it suggest it will be out this year – even though virtually nothing has ever been seen of the game and the radio silence makes it seem like there has been a delay.
Apparently not though, as according to voice actor Matthew Porretta developer Remedy is aiming for an October release date.
Porretta was speaking on the Monsters, Madness and Magic podcast but claimed not to know an exact date, just that it was mid-autumn.
As usual, it’s worth pointing out that despite what you’d think, voice actors are notoriously unreliable sources for games news, even when they should know what they’re talking about.
That doesn’t mean Porretta is wrong, since officially the game is due out this year, but whatever information he’s relaying it may well be out of date.
He made no mention of Summer Game Fest or the other showcases due in the next few weeks, but if the game really is out in October then it wouldn’t be at all surprising if it turned up at one of them.
Very little is known about Alan Wake 2 other than it’ll be closer to a survival horror than the first game and that part of it seems to be set in New York and another in woodland reminiscent of the first game.
Creative director Sam Lake did warn that the team would ‘go dark’ in terms of information about the game and they weren’t lying, so the question now is when they will break that silence and offer a proper look at the game.
