Alan Carr is set to star as himself in a new biographical comedy series coming to ITV – with a little help from the production team behind Gavin & Stacey.
The comedian, 46, has had the upcoming sitcom, entitled Changing Ends, commissioned by ITV, and it will follow his life story.
Bafta-winning TV writer Simon Carlyle will help to develop the series after having success in recent years with Scottish sitcom Two Doors Down.
Changing Ends will follow Alan’s life as a young boy growing up in Northampton while his dad, Graham, manages the town’s Football League team.
Speaking about the upcoming show, which doesn’t have a concrete release date yet, Alan promised fans that it would contain lots of nostalgia and football.
‘If someone had told little old me back in Northampton that ITV would give me my own sitcom based on my life I would have choked on my Flumps.’

He continued: ‘Super proud that I can share my story with you – expect lots of giggles, pathos and nostalgia and believe it or not football – who knew?’
The series is slated to start filming early in 2023, with plans for it to reach ITV before the end of the year.
Alan will star in the series as himself when the story catches up to the present day. Before that, breakout actor Oliver Savell will play him as a child.

Savell became known to British audiences earlier in 2022 after starring in Kenneth Brannagh’s Oscar-nominated coming-of-age film Belfast.
Alan Partridge actor Steve Coogan, who co-founded Changing Ends’ production company Baby Cow, said he was eager to Alan’s story to come to life.
‘Changing Ends is the story of who Alan was before he knew who he was. Shot through with his irrepressible wit and charm, it’s an honest, tender and brilliantly funny account of his teenage years.’
