A picture of Summer as seen on a GoFundMe page set up for the family
The mysterious death of a teenage girl is now being investigated by detectives six weeks on.
Summer Sheppard, 14, was found dead by her mother on November 28 at a farmhouse in Cotgrave, Nottinghamshire, where the pair lived.
A recent hearing of the ongoing inquest into the tragedy was told the cause of death was unknown.
Summer had moved in with her mum a few weeks earlier, having previously lived in Swindon, Wiltshire, in circumstances which could not immediately be confirmed.
Nottinghamshire Police did not immediately confirm whether it suspected any criminal offences were committed in connection with Summer’s death.
A Gofundme page to raise money for the family, set up by a friend of Summer’s mum, described the girl as ‘beautiful and effervescent’.
It said her parents had suffered a ‘turbulent year’ after the father underwent an operation and then received a ‘life-changing diagnosis’.
The inquest has been adjourned to a later date yet to be confirmed.
