Dwight Yorke has urged Manchester United to make Victor Osimhen, Leroy Sane and Son Heung-Min the first major signings of the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era.

Ratcliffe and INEOS confirmed their 25 per cent purchase of the club in December and while they still await official ratification from the Premier League, major changes are being planned at Old Trafford.

The club’s recruitment department is expected to be overhauled with INEOS assuming full control of football operations as part of their minority takeover.

United are expected to have a quiet January transfer window where they are likely to once again be limited to loan signings.

But next summer when Ratcliffe’s new structure has been implemented could be more interesting with some major areas to address in the current United squad.

Treble-winning striker Yorke believes as many as six new players are needed at the end of the season, naming current Tottenham star Son among his ideal additions.

If I were in charge of Man United and had to sign three players, then I’d pick Victor Osimhen, Leroy Sane, and Son Heung-Min,’ Yorke told Footy Accumulators.

‘I feel United are OK defensively, but they lack options in midfield. I wouldn’t say the club needs a clearout, but they need at least six new players to freshen up the whole team. Too many players have been there for too long.

‘I think Leroy Sane would give United plenty of options on the right and he’d complement Rashford well. Victor Osimhen would inject firepower and goals, and he’d complete my ideal front three.

‘Midfield options are needed, but I’m struggling to think of any stand-out names.

‘I feel like Man United have lost their identity in this department over the last 18 months, and I worry about how fragile they look there. I find myself second-guessing the team before each game.’

Osimhen is one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers after his terrific spell with Napoli with Chelsea also admirers.

Recent reports suggest the Blues could make their move for the Nigeria international this month.
