Ex-President Donald Trump warned that ‘bedlam’ will be unleashed in the US if he loses his January 6 immunity claim and his prosecution moves forward.
Speaking at the Waldorf Astoria hotel after appearing in court in Washington, DC, Trump accused Democrats of trying to stop him from pursuing the White House using a criminal case.
‘They’re losing in every poll. They’re losing in almost every demographic. And I think they feel this is the way they’re going to try and win,’ said Trump on Tuesday afternoon.
‘And that’s not the way it goes, it will be bedlam in the country.
‘It’s a very bad thing, it’s a very bad precedent – as we said, it’s the opening of Pandora’s box, it’s a very sad thing that’s happened with this whole situation.’
Three judges on the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit earlier on Tuesday were skeptical of Trump’s argument that a former president who has not been impeached and convicted by Congress cannot be prosecuted for a crime linked to the office.
