An eight-year-old boy died after falling while car surfing on a vehicle as his teenage sister drove.
Enashia Futrell, 18, has been arrested and charged in the death of her unnamed brother.
Futrell claimed she did not know her brother had climbed out and onto the roof of the Ford Expedition, which had all the windows open, according to court documents obtained by 13News Now.
Surveillance footage from an apartment complex where Futrell was driving showed two children hanging out of the windows of the SUV without being fastened down by seatbelts. One of the kids was in the front passenger seat and the other was in the back seat.
The boy in the back climbed out and to the roof of the vehicle as Futrell drove over the 10mph speed limit at the complex parking lot, the documents state.
CCTV showed the boy ‘car surfing’ on the SUV for about 1,000 feet and then falling to the ground.
Cops found the boy unresponsive on the road on the 200 block of Golden Gate Drive just before 5pm on October 2. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries and pronounced dead two days later.
