Pedro Pascal has issued a stark warning to his followers on Instagram while also paying tribute to Sinéad O’Connor following her death.
The Irish singer’s death was confirmed on Wednesday, July 26 by her family after she was found ‘unresponsive’ at a house in London hours earlier.
Her death came 18 months after the mum-of-four’s son Shane, 17, took his own life in January 2022 after leaving a hospital where he was on suicide watch.
Tributes to the singer have poured in, with The Last Of Us star Pascal, 48, being the latest to share his thoughts on the Dublin singer-songwriter.
He kept his tribute short and sweet, posting an image of O’Connor staring at the camera while smoking to his Instagram Stories alongside a message blasting the treatment the singer received from some while alive.
‘Don’t treat women like s**t while they’re alive,’ Pascal wrote, echoing the sentiments of other figures who have spoken out against tributes to the star.

He also posted a picture of the singer to his Instagram grid, writing: ‘Fight the real enemy. She composed courage. She was the real f*****g deal. Heart broken.’
Lily Allen condemned the public outpouring for O’Connor, calling it ‘spineless’ to come from people who wouldn’t ‘in a million years align themselves’ with her when she was alive.
‘It’s hard not to feel incensed when there are so many people posting about Sinead and how fearless she was, people who would never in a million years align themselves with anybody who stood for something or had anything remotely controversial to say,’ The Pillowman star wrote on Twitter.
‘It’s so spineless. If you can’t stand up for people in life don’t do it in death,’ she declared.
Similarly, The Smiths frontman Morrissey called the same tributes ‘sterile slop’ and said the kind words coming in for her were ‘too late’.
‘She had only so much ‘self’ to give. She was dropped by her label after selling 7 million albums for them. She became crazed, yes, but uninteresting, never. She had done nothing wrong,’ he wrote in a passionate post on his blog.

He continued: ‘She had proud vulnerability … and there is a certain music industry hatred for singers who don’t ‘fit in’ (this I know only too well), and they are never praised until death – when, finally, they can’t answer back.’
He went on to blast the tributes as ‘the cruel playpen of fame gushes for Sinead today … with the usual moronic labels of ‘icon’ and ‘legend’.
‘You praise her now ONLY because it is too late. You hadn’t the guts to support her when she was alive and she was looking for you.’
He ripped into everyone from the press to the industry to ’15 minute celebrities,’ saying the press would ‘call Sinead sad, fat, shocking, insane … oh but not today!
‘Music CEOs who had put on their most charming smile as they refused her for their roaster are queing-up to call her a “feminist icon”, and 15 minute celebrities and goblins from hell and record labels … are squeezing on to Twitter to twitter their jibber-jabber … when it was YOU who talked Sinead into giving up.’
