Jamie Foxx has spoken up about his health scare for the first time in a new video to fans.
The star, 55, sparked concern in April when he was rushed to hospital over a ‘medical emergency, and has been mostly quiet on social media since.
After an initial message thanking people for their support, Jamie has not spoken about the incident or what happened, leading to rumours flying that the actor was paralysed or even left blind.
It had been reported the star was undergoing physical rehabilitation, with his family seen visiting his bedside, but the reasons for this were unclear.
Now Jamie has taken to Instagram in a new video to clear things up, and became visibly emotional while reflecting on his journey, saying he had been ‘to Hell and back.’
To everyone who had sent messages of support, he said: ‘I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back.

‘I went through something I thought I would never ever go through. I know a lot of people were wanting to hear updates but… I didn’t want you to see me like that.
‘I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show.
‘I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through. And to be honest with you my sister… my daughter Corinne saved my life. To them, to God, to a lot of great medical people…’
He went on: ‘I cannot tell you how great it feels for your family to kick in in such, a way. And y’all know they kept it airtight, they didn’t let nothing out. They protected me, and I hope that’s something everyone can have in moments like these.
‘But by being quiet sometimes things get out of hand… some people said I was blind but as you can see the eyes are working just fine,’ he said – while crossing his eyes humorously.
‘Some said I was paralysed, I’m not paralysed but I went to hell and back and my road to recovery had some potholes as well. But Im coming back and I’m able to work so I want to thank people to let me work. I love everybody and I love all the love I got.’
Jamie became visibly tearful as he spoke, with tears shining in his eyes, which he addressed in the later half of his video.
He said: ‘And man I know they talk about people crying on videos…but I’m not going to do a take two, this is what it is. If you see me out from now and every once in a while I just burst into tears it’s because it’s been tough man. I’ve been sick.
‘You’re gonna see me out. But like I said I want you to remember me for the jokes that I crack, the movies I make, some of them good some of them bad… and the songs I sing.’
He even addressed a wild conspiracy theory that he wasn’t the real Jamie and had been cloned, adding: ‘Some people tell me I’m a clone.

‘Well check this out,’ he said, before reaching as though to pull his face off like a mask – then stopping and saying: ‘Just kidding. Not a clone.’
‘But I’m here on earth because of some great people, Im here on earth because of God. So I just wanted to jump on here and let y’all know I’m on my way back.’
Jamie was taken to hospital earlier this year, but details of his condition have not been publicly shared.
His daughter Corinne broke the news of his illness on Instagram, sharing a statement which read: ‘From the Foxx Family: We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday.
‘Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers.
‘The family asks for privacy during this time. Much love, The Foxx Family.’
