Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection – it’s like an Atlus Super Smash Bros. (pic: Atlus)
The six DLC guest characters for Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection can also be bought separately after the game’s launch.
We may have mentioned it a few (hundred) times, but we’re big fans of Etrian Odyssey. So, the announcement of an updated collection of the first three games ended up being one of our favourite surprise of February’s Nintendo Direct (even if it omits Etrian Odyssey 4, which is the best one).
Developer Atlus dropped new details for the collection last month, explaining that you can purchase each of the included games separately but that pre-ordering the full collection will net you extra character portraits that depict cameos from its Shin Megami Tensei and Persona titles.
Ahead of its June launch, and the inevitable review, we’ve been able to secure an exclusive interview with the developers, which we should have published very soon, as well as an in-game look at the DLC character portraits.
For anyone unfamiliar with Etrian Odyssey, these aren’t unique characters per se, with their own stats and abilities. They’re essentially cosmetics that you can swap in, instead of using any of the original characters available.
As a reminder, the first game’s DLC includes Joker from Persona 5 and Ringo from Soul Hackers 2. The second game features Persona 4 mascot Teddie and Shin Megami Tensei 3’s Demi-Fiend. Lastly, the third game adds robot girl Aigis from Persona 3 and Shin Megami Tensei 5’s Nahobino.
The videos below demonstrate how you can set these characters in your party. Although, for Etrian Odyssey 3, instead of the DLC characters the video highlights a pair of new original portraits for the game’s Gladiator and Yggdroid classes. Several classes across all three games will boast new character portraits as well.

Atlus does plan to sell them the DLC in three separate sets after launch, where they’ll cost £2.69 each.
