Tom Cruise has reflected on his emotional reunion with Val Kilmer to film Top Gun: Maverick, admitting there were tears on set.
The pair starred opposite each other in the original 1986 movie, and briefly reunited on screen for the blockbuster sequel last year.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Friday, the 60-year-old, who played Maverick, was questioned about the sweet scenes.
‘I just want to say that was pretty emotional,’ he recalled, heaping praise on his Iceman co-star. ‘I’ve known Val for decades, and for him to come back and play that character…
‘He’s such a powerful actor that he instantly became that character again.

The scene in question saw Iceman convince Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell to come out of retirement to help prepare new recruits for a mission.
Val’s character sadly died off-screen shortly after.
When the host confessed that the moment had him in tears, Tom revealed that he was also sobbing.

‘I was crying, I was crying. I got emotional. He’s such a brilliant actor, I love his work,’ he added.
Honestly, hard same.
Val was diagnosed with cancer in 2015, and underwent chemotherapy and a tracheotomy, which saved his life.
The Hollywood star is now cancer-free but speaks with the use of a voice box.
Tom previously touched on their on-screen reunion, insisting: ‘It was lovely. The whole experience, you know, 36 years to make this film.
