Twitter outage as accounts told they exceeded daily limit
Twitter’s problems continue as users experienced technical problems on Wednesday – leaving some users unable to tweet.
Some users received the message saying: “You are over the daily limit for sending Tweets.”
DownDectector reported the glitch just before 22:00 GMT.
Since his Twitter takeover, Elon Musk has fired many employees – currently at around 2,300 down from around 8,000.
Musk – boss of Tesla and SpaceX – bought Twitter for $44bn last October.
For months, there have been warnings that the mass cutting of staff could cause technical issues, though it is not yet clear if the reduced staff is the reason for Wednesday’s outage.
The outage appeared to be fixed fairly quickly.
Some reported they were notified by the social media site saying they were over the 2,400-tweet-per-day limit, even if they had not posted on Wednesday.
Others reported problems with Twitter messages. Several users said they could not access TweetDeck – a dashboard that can be used with Twitter.
“Twitter may not be working as expected for some of you. Sorry for the trouble. We’re aware and working to get this fixed,” Twitter said.
In recent weeks many users have complained of bugs while using Twitter – including some claiming they could increase the reach of tweets if they locked their accounts.
Twitter has recently announced that its subscribers – $8-a-month service in the US can now post longer tweets.
