It worked out in the end! (Pictures: Instagram/Victoria Bye/BBC)
There was a slight bump in the road for EastEnders star James Bye recently, as his and his wife’s plan to renew their wedding vows very nearly went wrong.
This is in real life, yes, not the soap!
The actor, best known for his role as Martin Fowler, headed to St Lucia with partner Victoria for the ceremony after already being married for 10 years.
However, the ever-changing weather decided to test the couple, their friends and family, as torrential rain and strong winds threatened to put a halt to their day.
Updating followers on her Instagram, Victoria wrote: ‘Up I got… gingerly opening the blinds…And. Dear. God. It was absolutely chucking it down. Rivers ran haphazardly down the hill, winds lashed against the sea… And all we could do was laugh.’
Fortunately, as though Mother Nature was looking down on them, a rainbow appeared, and the sun came out – the special day could go ahead after all.
‘We stood dejectedly looking out at the crashing waves, and then – and I kid you not – a rainbow appeared’, Victoria added.
‘It landed right in the middle of the altar on the beach. And slowly, the clouds melted away. All was calm. And I walked down the aisle, Edward holding my arm. Louis and Hugo standing with James smiling at me. Hand on bump.’
The bump reference follows the news that Victoria is pregnant with her and James’ fourth child.
Announcing their latest arrival at the start of the year, the pair explained that their pregnancy is significant after struggles with endometriosis and miscarriages.

Sharing a series of smiling pictures, the couple released a joint statement.
Uploading their selfies to Instagram, they delightedly held up a black and white ultrasound scan.
They wrote: ‘So… we’ve been keeping a little secret…
‘We’re not just welcoming in the new year in 2023… I can hardly believe I’m saying it. But we’re welcoming another little one and we’re over the moon. [sic]’.
How wonderful.
