Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) finally got her comeuppance in EastEnders as she was arrested for perverting the course of justice shortly after Mick Carter’s (Danny Dyer) tragic disappearance.
The schemer, as viewers know, put Linda (Kellie Bright) through absolute hell earlier this year in a bid to get her out of Mick’s life.
From planting bottles of alcohol on her to having baby Annie almost taken away, not to mention framing her for a near-fatal car crash, Janine has stopped at nothing in a bid to alienate her love rival from Mick.
The truth of her scheming, however, was exposed on Christmas Day, and Mick struggled to get his head around who Janine really is, as the scales finally fell from his eyes.
The landlord reunited with beloved ex-wife Linda, before the two of them hopped in a vehicle and sped after Janine, who had done a runner, but tragedy struck soon afterwards, with the car going into the sea.
Mick jumped in after the car, rescuing Janine and his unborn baby, before going back in once more to retrieve love of his life Linda, unaware that she had already made it to safety.

He never resurfaced.
Boxing Day’s outing of the BBC One soap picked up hours later, with the search and rescue teams having failed to locate missing Mick.
Linda, heartbroken, returned to the Vic, where she filled a devastated Shirley (Linda Henry) in on what happened, revealing that she doesn’t think her soulmate is coming back home.
Janine soon showed up and tried to play the victim, pinning the blame for the tragedy on Linda.

Shirley, however, saw through the schemer’s lies, as she tried to choke Janine to death, and Linda made it quite clear that she was willing to sit back and watch the action unfold, but Ollie’s (Harry Farr) sudden presence prompted Shirl to stop what she was doing.
Linda took great pleasure in kicking Janine out of her pub. Janine, however, headed to Sonia’s (Natalie Cassidy), hoping to win some sympathy from her friend and her brother Ricky (Sid Owen).
Sonia and Ricky were horrified to find out what happened – and all the more so when Janine tried to manipulate Scarlett (Tabitha Byron) into lying to the police to save her skin!
Ruthless.

Scarlett, however, refused to do what her mum said, and Janine was subsequently arrested and taken away in a police car, driving past her one true love on the way out: The Vic.
See you, Janine. Until next time!
