Nadia Sawalha has admitted feeling ‘ashamed’ for past Loose Women comments and the way in which Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were trolled online, as they discuss in their bombshell Netflix docuseries.
Harry and Meghan’s second batch of episodes dropped to the streaming platform on Thursday, in which they spoke about her mental health struggles and suicidal thoughts, and online trolling and media backlash they continued to receive.
Throughout the docuseries, the couple refer to headlines and commentary from TV presenters, some of which included the Loose Women stars themselves, which, while the likes of Judi Love gushed over making their Netflix debut, left Nadia feeling ‘ashamed’.
Speaking on the ITV chat show on Friday, she began: ‘Do you know what, we’ve made that many appearances, I’m just exhausted.’
Turning serious, Nadia continued: ‘Well first of all, I don’t think it should be called a documentary, I think it’s “Our story”, and I have softened on some of the things I felt, and I’ve been more, I’m mixed feelings.

‘But I definitely feel ashamed of some of the things that I’ve thought and felt, like I found it very upsetting when Meghan was talking about showing the baby very young, how low she was, her mental health, her suicidal feelings.
‘I think at the time, I didn’t really engage with that, I was just like, well you know, and actually, I thought she spoke very well, and she said, “At the end of the day, I am a human being.”

‘We all know that the best thing to do with trolls and all of that is to ignore it, not to read it and move on, they’re sad and unhappy people themselves, I think I was really made aware that those trolls and then things feeling validated by online newspapers, we’ve forgot how much that can hurt and how much that can mess you up.’

Nadia added: ‘I think when she said she was in the crowd one day and a person looked straight in her face and said, “What you’re doing to your father is disgusting”, and you could see when she was telling that story that people are really believing it.
‘So I think I’ve understood more, parking the money aside, why they want to tell their version of the truth. And I’m much more sympathetic, I think I’ve been harsh in the way that I’ve spoken, thought about it.’
The panel were fairly divided in their reactions to the documentary when the first episodes dropped last week, with Carol McGiffin insisting it was an attack on the royal family but Charlene White arguing it was more about the couple’s relationship with the media.

Frankie Bridge, meanwhile, said it appeared Harry and Meghan were arguing ‘the way the Royal Family works is outdated,’ and said it was ‘ridiculous’ the family have done ‘loads for mental health charities’ but didn’t seem to know how to deal with it closer to home.
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
