Devoted dad Peter Andre is very worried about the Strep A epidemic, especially while daughter Princess has tonsillitis.
His concerns follow the deaths of over 15 children across the UK as a result of an outbreak of a rare bacteria, known as group A streptococcal.
The harmful bacteria is commonly found on the skin or in the throat and can cause a lot of different illnesses.
Sharing his fatherly worries, Peter admitted he’s relied on wife Dr Emily MacDonagh to keep him calm.
Speaking about Princess, 15, being diagnosed painful throat condition tonsillitis, he said in his OK! column us: ‘It’s been very worrying as a parent to see the increasing number of children dying from Strep A.
‘It’s horrific for any parent to have to go through that. It’s been comforting to hear reports from doctors saying that it is very, very rare that a child will die, but any child’s death is a complete tragedy.’

The Mysterious Girl hitmaker, 49, fell ill himself recently and suffered with a ‘horrible sickness bug’ that caused him to cancel shows.
Fortunately, he recovered swiftly, but he says Princes is still unwell.
‘Thankfully it was only a 24-hour thing and I feel much better and so does Millie, but poor Princess still isn’t very well. She’s also been struck down by tonsillitis, so she’s got a double whammy!’
The father of four – who shares son Junior, 18, with ex-wife Katie Price and children Theo, eight, and Amelia, six, with Emily – added that he is ‘keeping an eye’ on his kids.

Pain and swelling (cellulitis)
Severe muscle aches.
Nausea and vomiting.
He’s being especially ‘vigilant’ with symptoms of strep A, such as a rash or fever.
According to the NHS, initial signs of contracting strep A are a long-lasting, sore, red scratchy throat, as well as fever, headache and swollen lymph nodes (lumps) in the neck and under the jaw.
‘It is also very helpful living with a doctor,’ Peter added, but admitted there are ‘downsides’ too.

‘The good thing is that you know when anything serious happens she’ll be there and know what to do, but the flip side is that you can’t be a hypochondriac because any time you complain about something the answer back is, “You’ll be fine, get on with it!”, but actually that tough love has helped me quite a bit with my anxiety.

‘Sometimes if I’ve felt really anxious Emily knows exactly what to say and she’s just helped me rationalise and understand things.’
Peter married 33-year-old Emily in 2015 and she makes regular appearances as a TV doctor, including on ITV’s Lorraine.
