Steven Gerrard insists he is a ‘massive fan’ of Jude Bellingham and has backed the Liverpool and Chelsea target to become a ‘superstar’ for England ahead of the World Cup.
Bellingham looks set to start for England in Qatar, with the Three Lions kick-starting their World Cup campaign on Monday against Iran.
The 19-year-old has been in superb form for Borussia Dortmund, starting all 15 of their Bundesliga games this season and scoring seven goals in all competitions.
Dortmund have admitted they are open to selling Bellingham next summer and Liverpool and Chelsea are both keen to stride a deal, although he will cost in excess of £100m.
That will be money well spent if Gerrard’s opinion is anything to go by, however, with the former England midfielder a ‘massive fan’ of Bellingham and expecting him to be a ‘superstar’ over the next decade.
‘I think for the viewers watching this World Cup, there’s a massive opportunity to enjoy a massive pool of players from different countries,’ the Liverpool legend and former Aston Villa manager told Sky Sports.
‘I’ve competed against a lot of these players, your Messi’s and Ronaldo’s of this world. They’ll be the two big names with a lot of focus, but the tournament’s going to be littered with high class players.

‘I’ll be focusing my attention on England, I’m really excited to watch Jude Bellingham, I’m a massive fan of him. I think the next 10 or 15 years, he’s going to become an England superstar.

Meanwhile, fellow former England star Danny Murphy believes Liverpool are the ‘perfect’ club for Bellingham, who was playing Championship football just three years ago.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy said: ‘Would he get in any team in the world? At the moment I don’t think he would get in every team, no.
‘So I think for him it’s a case of, does he want to go and play every week? Probably, because he’s used to playing. Or, does he want to go somewhere where he’s part of something growing?
‘He is perfect for Liverpool, and he’d play. The difference is if he went to Man City, for example, you could argue at the minute that he probably wouldn’t play.’
