Manchester United only found out about Cristiano Ronaldo’s explosive interview with Piers Morgan on Sunday evening and it has left his manager, teammates and the rest of the club extremely disappointed.
The 37-year-old aired his frustrations with the club in memorable fashion, as his second spell with the Red Devils appears to be coming to an end after his comments.
The forward said he does not respect manager Erik ten Hag, he feels betrayed by people at the club and shocked that Manchester United has made such little progress since he left for Real Madrid in 2009.
Ronaldo was not in the United squad for the Premier League trip to Fulham on Sunday, with Sky Sports reporting that he told the club he was ill when informed that he would not be in the starting XI.
Ten Hag’s side won the match 2-1 thanks to a late Alejandro Garnacho winner, and Sky Sports state that the club only found out about Ronaldo’s interview with Morgan as they were preparing to fly back from London after the game.
Unsurprisingly, what Ronaldo said and when he said it has left teammates and the Manchester United hierarchy extremely disappointed with him and options are now being explored for how to move forward.

Ronaldo remains under contract at Old Trafford until the end of the season, but it seems extremely unlikely that he will play for the club again after this interview.
Asked about Ten Hag, Ronaldo told Piers Morgan Uncensored on Sunday night: ‘I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me.
‘If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.’

Asked if he felt Ten Hag had tried to force him out, he replied: ‘Yes, not only the coach but another two or three guys that are around the club [at senior executive level]. I felt betrayed.’
