I’m A Celebrity: Matt Hancock enters the jungle
The former health secretary Matt Hancock has entered the jungle – much to the dismay of his colleagues.
The former health secretary has doubled down on his reasons to enter the jungle, arguing it’s a great way to connect with a younger audience.
He said surviving the jungle is a “metaphor for the world I work in.”
The ITV show has released a picture of Hancock in his jungle clothes.
His entrance to the camp was teased on Tuesday’s episode and he will join the camp from Wednesday night – along with comedian Seann Walsh.
I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! – Sunak disappointed
The pair will be joining Boy George, Chris Moyles, Mike Tindall and Sue Cleaver who are already in the Aussie jungle.
Hancock said his stint on the show will give viewers the chance to “see the real me,” and told the jungle bosses his phobias include “snakes” adding: “I don’t thankfully suffer from claustrophobia – or I think I don’t.”
He went on: “Lots of people have a view on me from being health secretary in the pandemic dealing with some very difficult issues, but that’s not the whole story.
“I am looking forward to throwing myself into it all like I do everything in life. You can’t hide anything in the jungle, you see somebody warts and all.”
Since it was announced that Hancock would be joining the jungle, he has had the Tory whip suspended and has been criticised by many Tories – including PM Rishi Sunak who said he was “very disappointed” by Hancock’s decision.
