US midterms: Biden and Trump last-minute pleas ahead of election
US president Joe Biden and former US president Donald Trump held rallies on Sunday to try to shore up support ahead of Tuesday’s big vote.

Tuesday’s midterm election vote is important. If Republicans take control of either chamber of Congress, or even both – it will make the final two years of Democrat Joe Biden’s presidency difficult.
Republicans have been picking up momentum recently as many voters suggest they are concerned about the economy over anything else.
At the moment, the Republicans are the favourite to win control of the House of Representatives but the Senate is a toss-up, polling suggests.
Monday is the final day of campaigning, and Democrats will be bracing for a loss – even in parts of the country where they usually do well.
The President’s New York rally was to support Governor Kathy Hochul who is fighting a tough challenge from Trump-backed Republican candidate Lee Zeldin.
Some big-name Democrats – former president Bill Clinton, VP Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton have also thrown their support behind her.
