Protesters dragged out of Tory conference while Liz Truss gives address
The Metro says Protesters holding signs reading ‘Who voted for this?’ were dragged away after disrupting Liz Truss’s’ speech at the Tory conference.
Ms Truss had to pause while Ami McCarthy and Rebecca Newsom, who both work in public affairs for Greenpeace, were thrown out of the hall.
They said they were ‘holding the Government to account’ for its promises on net zero.
The protesters, holding bright yellow signs, were referring to the fact that Ms Truss took over from Boris Johnson without a general election, instead voted for as leader only by 81,326 members of the Conservative Party.
