EPSTEIN ACCUSER TELLS PRINCE ANDREW TO ‘COME CLEAN’
BBC News reports Virginia Giuffre has urged Prince Andrew to “come clean” and told reporters the Prince “knows what he’s done.” Giuffre accused disgraced billionaire Jeffery Epstein of sex abuse. She said she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew on three occasions. Adding: “He knows what he’s done and he can attest to that. He knows exactly what he’s done and I hope he comes clean about it.” Prince Andrew denies the allegations. However, the Duke of York has said it was “a mistake and error” to see Epstein after his release from prison.

BOY ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF TEACHING ASSISTANT’S MURDER
Sky News says a 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Teaching assistant, Lindsay Birbeck’s body was found in a cemetery over the weekend. Police earlier released footage of a suspect pulling a wheelie bin. The 47-year-old’s body was found at Accrington Cemetary on Saturday, almost two weeks after she was last seen. A post mortem revealed she was strangled. Her family have been informed.

LABOUR TO BAN TROPHY HUNTING IMPORTS
The Independent says The Labour party has pledged to ban trophy hunters from selling their spoils in the UK. They will end cruel fishing practises and consider banning the whip in racing. It’s a radical overhaul of animal welfare plans. Labour will end the sale of souvenirs from wild animals such as lions, elephants and tigers meaning wealthy hunters will not profit from trophies obtained abroad. They are also planning to ban people from owning pet monkeys, outlaw the sale of snares and glue traps and change laws on animal cruelty. Both wild animals and domestic pets.

TORIES’ DRAMATIC SCHOOL PLANS
The Guardian says leaked documents set out the governments dramatic school plans. A crackdown on behaviour and a boost in funds for schools and teachers. The documents show £3.5bn funding announcement and a plan to increase teacher’s basic pay. The government is expected to announce its plans over the next few days. Policy proposals for schools are designed to be rolled out over the coming weeks to seize the initiative on education before a possible autumn election. There is expected to be concern over the disciplinary measures. They include an emphasis on exclusion and allowing teachers to use “reasonable force” to improve behaviour.
