BRITISH WOMEN,19, ARRESTED OVER ‘FALSE RAPE CLAIMS’ AS THE 12 ACCUSED ISRAELI MEN ARE RELEASED
The BBC reports, The British woman who claimed she had been gang-raped by 12 Israeli men has been arrested on suspicion of making false allegations. The women had said the alleged rape had happened at a hotel on 17 July in Ayai Napa.
The 12 Israeli men, aged between 15-20, denied the claims and all have since been released. She is expected to appear in court on Monday.
The Dailymail adds, the Briton, who has not been named, has retracted her statement after further police questioning and DNA results. Doubts began after the women changed her story and one of the accused had a solid alibi. A lawyer for some of the accused said of the Brit: “she regretted what she said.”

PM URGED TO HONOUR HIS PROMISE OF AN INDEPENDENT INQUIRY INTO TORY PARTY ISLAMOPHOBIA
The Guardian reports, PM Boris Johnson is being urged to honour his promise of an independent inquiry into Islamophobia within his party. This comes as a senior minister refused to say whether one would happen under his leadership.
At the BBC TV debate during the Tory leadership campaign, Boris Johnson appeared to agree to an external investigation. The party has faced criticism for its handling of Islamophobic complaints in recent months. Some members who had been suspended for Islamophobia had been let back in.
Rishi Sunak said the PM was “committed very firmly to rooting it out in the party wherever it is.” He declined to confirm there would be an independent inquiry.

11-YEAR-OLD ‘SLIGHT AND HIGHLY DISTURBED’ BOY PUT INTO HANDCUFFS AND LEG RESTRAINTS AFTER SEIZURE
The Independent reports, A high court judge has raised concerns over police treatment of an 11-year-old epileptic boy who has been described as ‘highly disturbed’. The boy, known as N, had been retrained four times that day and his behaviour “escalated considerably” after arriving at a potential new school.
Whilst restrained, N, suffered a tonic-clonic seizure and paramedics were called. Police arrived shortly after as the boy’s behaviour and heightened emotions could not be controlled by those already on the scene.
Police placed the boy in handcuffs and leg restraints which reportedly caused great distress to the 11-year-old. He remained in the restraints en route to the hospital. One of the police officers had sworn at the boy and statements from offers suggested they found the situation “trying and frustrating.”

HERO SAVED AFTER HE ‘RESCUED A TODDLER FROM SEA’
BBC reports, a man believed to be in his 20s was rescued on the Norfolk coast after he became trapped between rocks. The man was trapped after he had rescued a toddler from the incoming tide.
His ordeal became a life or death situation, unable to free himself he was stranded in the water for several hours. Emergency services worked hard to keep his head above water and provided him with breathing apparatus. Firefighters eventually freed the man after cutting through the rock which had trapped him.
Although he has some injuries none are believed to be life-threatening. The toddler was unharmed.
