Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at the White House to meet with President Joe Biden and address US legislators.
The US confirmed Zelensky arrived at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland shortly before noon on Wednesday. This is Zelensky’s first international trip since his country was invaded by Russian forces in February 2022.
Shortly before 2.30pm, Zelensky greeted President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden on the South Lawn of the White House. The Ukrainian president wore a green sweatshirt emblazoned with the coat of arms of his country.
He is set to engage in bilateral talks with President Biden this afternoon, after which the pair will hold a press conference currently scheduled for 4.30pm.

Zelensky will then travel to Capitol Hill, where he is scheduled to address a joint session of Congress at 7.30pm this evening.
Prior to the visit, the Biden administration announced that it approved a $1.85billion military aid package to be sent to Ukraine. The package is set to include a Patriot missile battery and funds for a satellite communication system.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the package will ‘underscore our enduring commitment to the people of Ukraine.’
