Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom – a cheeky trick involving fusing items to arrows is making players infinite amounts of money (pic: Nintendo)
Nintendo’s newest patch for Tears Of The Kingdom has left one major bug untouched yet fixed one some of you probably didn’t know existed.
For as beloved as a game The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom is, it’s not without some bugs and not the kind you can buy from Beedle.
A week after its launch, Nintendo has updated Tears Of The Kingdom with a new patch to address some of those issues, including one bug that actively prevented you from progressing the main story.
Surprisingly, however, the patch hasn’t got rid of the item duplication glitch which spread like wildfire earlier this week.
In case you weren’t aware of it yourself, through a combination of fusing an item to an arrow and quick timing of the pause button, you can create a second copy of that item, meaning anyone with enough patience can farm resources for crafting or sell them for easy money.
While otherwise optional and harmless (it’d be a very different story if this was a multiplayer game), we can’t imagine Nintendo is a-okay with letting such a bug persist, and yet it has.
The patch notes only state that ‘Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience,’ and Eurogamer can confirm that the item duplication bug is still present.
The one bug the notes do specify is one we didn’t even know was an issue and presumably very rare. It was worth fixing, though, as it made it impossible to complete The Closed Door, a very early quest that’s required to progress the main story.
Fortunately, this shouldn’t be an problem anymore and if you’ve encountered it, downloading the patch will issue the fix so you don’t have to do the whole quest again.
Presumably, the reason the item duplication bug remains is because Nintendo has only recently been made aware of it and hasn’t figured out how to fix it yet. Whatever the case, you best enjoy it for as long as it lasts because it’ll likely be patched out eventually.
