*Warning. Spoilers for the latest season of Yellowstone*
Yellowstone fans have been left frustrated after a recent episode had a plot hole that left many scratching their head.
The neo-Western drama stars Kevin Costner as John Dutton III and follows his family as they run the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, the largest of its kind in Montana.
There’s plenty of drama at not only the ranch, but the bordering Broken Rock Indian Reservation and national park, as well as with developers.
But in the fifth season premiere this week, Monica Long Dutton (played by Kelsey Asbille) started going into labour, kicking off what would become a devastating chain of events.
After calling her husband Kayce (Luke Grimes) distressed, she decided to drive despite being hunched over in pain.
Taking their son Tate with her, she made her way to hospital but was struggling with severe contractions, which ended up leading to a tragedy after she veered off the road, crashed the car and eventually lost the baby.

Despite the twist, fans were not thrilled with the scene, mainly because it made no sense.
‘Why did Monica insist on driving herself to the hospital when her contractions were so intense? Why not park on the side of the road and wait for the ambulance that Kayce had sent for?’ one user questioned on Twitter.

Another echoed a similar sentiment, writing that: ‘So Monica is driving a whole 100 MPH, on a dark country road, while having contractions and NOT looking at the road?’.
Someone else questioned why writers had her ‘keep driving when an ambulance was coming her way. I’m so annoyed.’
‘Am I the only one that thought she should have stayed where she was because Casey said he had an ambulance coming,’ was another comment.

Speaking about the storyline recently, Kelsey said it was a ‘tragic loss’.
‘I think you really see Monica at her rock-bottom and in a place where I think she starts questioning her own beliefs and her own identity…I think there’s a really definitive moment where she chooses life and works toward healing.’
Yellowstone is streaming on Paramount Plus.
