Becky Lynch will join Alexa Bliss, Mia Yim, Bianca Belair and Asuka at War Games (Picture: WWE)
WWE superstar Becky Lynch made a shock return on SmackDown and joined Team Bianca Belair for Survivor Series War Games.
The Man received a hero’s welcome as she was unveiled as the fifth and final member of Bianca’s all star squad to take on Bayley’s Damage CTRL team, which also features Judgment Day star Rhea Ripley.
Friday night’s show started with Bayley, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky joined in the ring by Nikki Cross and Rhea as they trashed the crowd and started to hype Saturday night’s huge battle.
It wasn’t long before Bianca, Alexa Bliss, ‘Michin’ Mia Yim and Asuka interrupted, before the EST of WWE revealed Lynch as their mystery partner four months after she suffered an injury at SummerSlam.
The crowd went wild, and they immediately got in the ring as Big Time Becks sparked a brawl, which ended with her taking out Bayley with a Bexploder suplex.
She stared down Rhea – who was fresh off helping Dominik Mysterio in a Thanksgiving beatdown on his dad Rey – in a brilliant moment as the villains escaped, kicking off the show in some serious style with plenty of energy.
Lynch being back from her separated shoulder injury is a massive boost to whichever brand she ends up on, and having her revealed on Friday night was a smart move given all the speculation about Sasha Banks before Survivor Series in her hometown.
She’ll be a great addition to the field for WarGames, and it’s set to be an instant classic.
Brawling Brutes get War Games advantage, Ricochet stuns Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt references The Fiend
The first match of the night saw Santos Escobar pick up a huge win over Butch in the semi finals of the SmackDown World Cup.
The Legado del Fantasma leader was able to capitalise on a distraction after The Bloodline attacked Drew McIntyre backstage, which led to Sheamus and Ridge Holland heading for the locker room.
This gave Joaquin Wilde, Cruz del Toro and Zelina Vega the chance to get involved, allowing Escobar to hit the Phantom Driver for the win in a great match.

Bray Wyatt made his entrance and insisted he didn’t attack LA Knight last week, while shrugging off fans wanting him to become The Fiend again.
He was interrupted by Uncle Howdy, who – with flickers from Bray’s whole career in the background – branded Bray a liar and warned fans not to throw their trust behind him.
Knight wasn’t convinced backstage, and ended up laid out again by another mystery attack.

Back in the ring, The Viking Raiders were joined by Sarah Logan – now known as Valhalla – for their dominating win over Hit Row, with Erik and Ivar looking great here, seemingly on the right track as they build momentum since their latest return.
In the second World Cup semi final of the night, Ricochet scored a major upset over Braun Strowman after a distraction from Imperium.
GUNTHER and his teammates Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci attacked the Monster of All Monsters after the bell, but Ricochet made the save before shaking hands with Braun.

In a very intriguing moment backstage, Sami Zayn stopped Kevin Owens from going into The Bloodline’s locker room, with KO insisting he won’t be able to protect him at War Games.
In a brilliant development, Jey Uso had heard the whole exchange, but when he asked Sami if he spoke to anyone before coming into the room, Ucey In The Sky With Diamonds lied.
Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey attacked Raquel Rodrigez and Shotzi backstage, leading to the former being taken out with a broken arm and dislocated shoulder.
It meant Shotzi went out alone for a scheduled tag match, and Raquel’s late entrance didn’t help as she tapped out to an armbar from Rousey.
In the main event, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus scored a significant victory over The Usos to earn the advantage at War Games.
Chaos ensued at ringside towards the end of the match, with KO stopping Sami from interfering with a title belt, getting the latter ejected from ringside and leaving Jey open to the Stunner.
WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
