All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Dustin Rhodes is ‘so saddened’ after his mother Sandra Runnells died this week.
The 53-year-old star, best known to WWE fans as Goldust, confirmed the news on Wednesday and hailed her as an ‘incredibly strong’ women who taught him ‘everything’.
Alongside a photo of him holding her hand, he wrote: ‘I am very sad to say that I lost my Momma today. She was an incredibly strong mother who was loving and resilient to her dying day.
‘She taught me everything, and I am the man I am today because of her. I am so saddened but so happy she is no longer in pain. Rest in Heaven.’
Sandra was the first wife of Dustin’s father, late WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes.
Although he hasn’t revealed a cause of death, he did tell fans that his mum was hospitalised in February 2022.
‘Prayers up for my momma please? She was just admitted to hospital,’ he tweeted at the time, while he later made a similar request to fans on December 20.
He wrote: ‘Please keep my momma in your prayers please.’
A few days later, Dustin shared a picture of himself with his mum outdoors with one arm around her shoulder as they looked off camera.
He captioned the photo: ‘Sitting here with my Momma and realizing just how important life really is. Wish I could take away all of this suffering. I am here momma and I love you. Constant prayers’.
