Saudi Civil Defense female officers play vital role to ensure safe Hajj season

Every girl admires her father, and Jawaher al-Shammari, a young Saudi woman, has been attached to the military uniform since her childhood when she used to see her own father don the same uniform after a lifetime working in one of the Kingdom’s security sectors.

“Today, I am a Saudi military officer serving as a safety inspector at the General Directorate of Civil Defense for the Hajj season this year.
It’s something I’m very proud of since it’s important humanitarian work. My reason for joining the military is to serve my country and religion, and one of my responsibilities as a safety inspector is to monitor pilgrim camps to ensure that they are safe and fire-resistant.

Civil defence female soldiers monitor and control all equipment in the corridors of the holy site camps in Mina to ensure security and safety requirements.
“Our work, as safety inspectors within the Saudi Civil Defense is preventive supervision and standing on the camps of pilgrims, and ensuring that requirements are provided for the safety and protection of pilgrims during the rituals,” one female security officer said.

Inspection visits will take place throughout all holy sites throughout the Hajj days, using new technologies and tools to make the inspection process easier. The military, which is trying to ensure a safe Hajj season this year, will be able to receive reports around the clock and deal with all emergency cases from all over the Mina area due to the use of high technology
