TRUMP’S OFFER TO MEDIATE ON KASHMIR STILL STANDS
Arab News reports US President Trump’s original offer to mediate between New Dehli and Islamabad on the Kashmir conflict “still stands.” Despite the Indian prime minister’s insistence that the issue is bilateral. His previous offer to mediate was revised last week with him now saying that India and Pakistan could handle the dispute on their own. However, the Pakistani Foreign Minister quoted Trump as saying in response to India saying the issue is bilateral: “This has been ongoing for decades. Why was this not resolved? But fine, if you (India and Pakistan) can go ahead and do it yourselves, it’s OK with me. But my offer (to mediate) still stands.”

HURRICANE DORIAN ‘BLASTS’ BAHAMAS
USA Today says Hurricane Dorian blasted across the Bahamas on Sunday. They say the arrival of Dorian ties an 84-year-old record for the most powerful Atlantic hurricane to come ashore. It continues its unrelenting march towards the U.S. East Coast. The storm is driving winds of 185 mph with gusts exceeding 220 mph. The wind has torn off roofs, cut power lines and flooded roads and homes. Terrified islanders have sought shelter in schools and churches. The Bahamas Prime Minister has urged residents to flee. With officials hiring boats to take people to islands further south. Those who have decided to ride out the storm have received a warning from the assistant commissioner of the Royal Bahamas Police Force. Saying: “The end could be fatal, he said. “We ask you, we beg you, we plead with you to get to a place of safety.”

HEZBOLLAH LAUNCH ANTI-TANK MISSILE TOWARDS ISRAEL, TEL AVIV FIRES BACK
France 24 says Israel has fired back after an anti-tank missile was launched by Hezbollah, hitting its territory from Lebanon. Raising fears of an escalation after a week of rising tension. On Sunday, Israel and Hezbollah exchanged fire along the Lebanon border. Resulting in the Lebanese PM calling the US Secretary of State and France’s top diplomat asking for them to intervene. In Sunday’s violence, Hezbollah says they destroyed an Israeli military vehicle. killing and wounding anyone inside. However, Israeli officials say they were no casualties.

WW2: GERMAN PRESIDENT ASKS FOR FORGIVENESS
CNN reports the German President has asked Poland for forgiveness 80 years after the start of WW2. “I stand before you, those who have survived, before the descendants of the victims, the old and the young residents of Wielun, I am humbled and grateful.” the President said. Adding: “I bow to the victims of the attack in Wielun, I pay tribute to the Polish victims of German tyranny and I ask for forgiveness,” he said. Nearly 6 million poles died on WWII, which remains the bloodiest conflict in history.
