SPAIN URGES EU TO HELP WITH MIGRANTS, AS MORE ARE RESCUED AT SEA
Arab News says On Thursday, Spain rescued 208 migrants from the Mediterranean Sea in just 24 hours. A senior Spanish official pleaded for the EU to set aside their differences on the migration issue. Spain’s Deputy Prime Minister said EU countries with no maritime border must share the burden of migrants crossing the Mediterranean Sea. Migrants travelling to the continent are coming from North Africa. Adding, the EU needs to agree on “a formula for safe arrivals at ports and co-responsibility of (EU) countries.”

PAKISTAN TESTS BALLISTIC MISSILE AMID TENSIONS WITH INDIA
CNN says Pakistan has announced that they have successfully tested a surface-to-surface missile. It has the capacity to carry various types of warheads over distances up to 180 miles. A video of the missile test was posted on the Pakistan Armed Forces official Twitter account. In response, an Indian foreign ministry spokesperson said: “We are aware of the test. As per the established CBM, we were informed about the test by Pakistan.” The latest show of force comes at a time of ongoing tension between Pakistan and India over Kashmir.

FLORIDA TOLD TO BE PREPARED AS HURRICANE DORIAN HEADS TO THE US MAINLAND
Aljazeera News says Florida’s governor has extended a state of emergency to the entire state before Hurricane Dorian arrives. It is expected to strengthen into a highly dangerous Category 4 before it hits the Atlantic coast. Some commercial flights have been cancelled and authorities are prepared to give sand to residents for sandbags. Dorian is predicted to reach 130 mph in 72 hours. Dorian is likely to hit Florida’s east coast on Monday and over central Florida by Tuesday. President Trump has cancelled his visit to Poland due to the storm. On Twitter, he warned: “Hurricane Dorian looks like it will be hitting Florida late Sunday night.” Adding, “Be prepared and please follow State and Federal instructions, it will be a very big Hurricane, perhaps one of the biggest!”
