DEATH TOLL UP AS BUS CRASHES IN NORTHWEST PAKISTAN
Arab News reports a bus crash in northern Pakistan has killed 26 people. The Sunday crash was caused after the brakes failed on a winding mountain road. The bus crashed head-on into a dirt embankment. And a further 20 passengers were injured. Only a month ago, a speeding bus fell off a mountainous road into a river in the northwest, killing 24 passengers.

INDIAN PRIME MINISTER BILLS TRUMP AS ‘TRUE FRIEND’ IN WHITE HOUSE AT HOUSTON RALLY
CNN says President Trump joined Indian PM Modi at a rally in Houston. Both world leaders praised each other’s work in front of tens of thousands of attendees, many of whom were waving Indian flags. The event, dubbed “Howdy, Modi!” had roughly 50,000 attendees – many from the city’s large Indian diaspora. Trump credited the Indian-American community with “helping to strengthen our country and build our future,” citing its contributions to medicine, business and technology.

BRAZIL: RIO FAVELA RESIDENTS RALLY AFTER 8-YEAR-OLD SHOT DEAD
Aljazeera News says hundreds of residents in one of Rio de Janeiro‘s poorest neighbourhoods have marched to demand an end to violence in the city after an eight-year-old girl was killed by a stray bullet. During the rally, protesters shouted “Justice! Justice!.” Agatha Sales Felix was shot dead during a police shoot-out with suspected criminals. An investigation has been opened.
