DEADLY ATTACK ON UN PEACEKEEPERS IN MALI
France 24 reports one peacekeeper has been killed and five wounded on Sunday when a roadside bomb exploded in northern Mali. They were carrying out a security patrol, in the jihadi controlled area when the device detonated. The attack was claimed by the Group to Support Islam and Muslims (GSIM), which has sworn allegiance to Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM).

CHINA OFFERS LESS TO US IN POTENTIAL TRADE DEAL
Aljazeera News says Chinese officials appear to be increasingly reluctant to agree to a broad trade deal pursued by President Trump, ahead of negotiations this week. The range of topics they are willing to discuss with the US has narrowed considerably. Vice Premier Lui He has told visiting dignitaries he would bring an offer to Washington that won’t include commitments on reforming Chinese industrial policy or the government subsidies that have been the target of US complaints. That offer would take one of Trump’s core demands off the table. China’s hand is strengthening as Trump’s administration faces its impeachment crisis.

TWO INMATES ESCAPE FROM CANADIAN PENITENTIARY, POLICE SAY
CNN says two Canadian inmates have escaped from prison in Saskatchewan and are on the run. Both are believed to be dangerous and police have warned the public not to approach. Jesse Dion Favel, 20 and Noah James Lemaigre-Elliot, 19 escaped the Riverbend Institution of the Saskatchewan Penitentiary between 8 pm and 9:30 pm on Friday. It is not known why they were being held, how long their sentences are or why they are considered dangerous.
