BANGLADESH BEEFS UP SECURITY ALONG THE INDIAN BORDER
Arab News reports Bangladesh has beefed up their security along its border with India. It comes after nearly 1.9 million people in the Indian state were excluded from the National Register of Citizen (NRC) last week. Their exclusion raises fears that they could be rendered stateless and may try to enter Bangladesh. Bangladesh is already struggling to cope with hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees. The Bangladesh border guards are “on high alert” and are “monitoring the situation very closely.” However, India has said that the issue is internal and will not affect Bangladesh.

US AND TALIBAN REACH AGREEMENT ‘IN PRINCIPLE’ ON AFGHANISTAN
CNN says President Trump’s special envoy for Afghanistan has said the US and the Taliban have reached an agreement “in principle.” It is currently pending approval by President Trump. The draft agreement will see US troops being pulled from five bases across Afghanistan within 135 days. However, it relies on the Taliban meeting the conditions set out in the agreement. If successful, the withdrawal could mark the beginning of the end of America’s longest-running war. And could lead to the gradual draw-down of almost 14,000 US troops in Afghanistan. The nearly 18-year conflict began after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

DORIAN DEVASTATES THE BAHAMAS, AT LEAST 5 DEAD
The Insider says Hurricane Dorian’s devastating slow crawl is heading to Florida. The storm, now category 2, has claimed the lives of at least five people in the Bahamas. The Bahamas prime minister said the islands were “in the midst of a historic tragedy,” with “unprecedented and extensive” damage. Although five have been confirmed dead, the death poll is expected to rise as the islands dig out from the hurricane. Although the storm has weakened, it has become larger as it crawls along to Florida.
