Rio Ferdinand believes the ‘big’ players at the World Cup will be in awe of Marcus Rashford after his performance in England’s win against Wales.
The Manchester United forward scored twice as the Three Lions ensured they finished top of their group with a 3-0 win against the Welsh.
Rashford’s brace moved him level on goals at the tournament with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Cody Gakpo.
That’s despite the fact that Rashford has made just one start so far in Qatar and there’s growing calls for the 25-year-old to start against Senegal on Sunday.
Rashford’s form for United this season saw him earn a late call-up to England’s World Cup squad and the forward’s form will make it difficult for Gareth Southgate to leave him out in the next round.
And Ferdinand believes that players around the world are looking at the form that Rashford is producing and thinking ‘wow’.

‘I think all of this stemmed from one element, working hard on the basics,’ said Ferdinand.
‘He didn’t look happy for a while, when you have a smiling Marcus Rashford he is a devastating player and a gamechanger.
‘One vs one he looks scary, he can finish. It all stemmed from doing the basic fundamentals of football of hard work and graft.
‘Big players in this tournament will be going wow look at Marcus Rashford.’
