World Cup 2022 England vs France – Raheem Sterling asks FA to look at him returning to Qatar for quarter-final
Football star Raheem Sterling could return to Qatar for the World Cup quarter-final.
According to a source close to Sterling, he has asked the Football Association (FA) to look at him re-joining the England squad.
A decision is expected later today. England faces France in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
Sterling left Qatar last Sunday after reports of a break-in at his home in England. He missed England’s 3-0 win against Senegal and it’s unclear if he did return to Qatar., or whether he’d play in the QF against France – due to missed training.
Raheem Sterling home invasion
At the time, Raheem Sterling’s representatives said his family had been at home on Saturday when the “armed intruders” broke in.
Sterling was said to be “shaken” and concerned for the well-being of his children.
But a statement from Surrey police said they were investigating a burglary report after the house occupants returned to find jewellery and watches had been stolen, and there were no threats of violence.
Police recently confirmed they were not linking the case to another attempted burglary in the same village.
No arrests have been made in relation to the break-in at Sterling’s home.
The FA has not revealed what they were told about the incident before Sterling’s departure.
