A care assistant who crashed her car into a tree in the icy weather and had to abandon it overnight was shocked to come back and find it covered in graffiti.
Sophie Nash, 27, skidded on black ice in her silver Vauxhall Corsa and lost control while going around a bend on a country lane in the early hours of Monday morning.
She alerted police to the car as she could not drive it away – but when she went back to the scene in at Glemsford, Suffolk, she found her vehicle looked quite different.
The words ‘this is litterin’ were sprayed in big letters on the rear window, while the side was covered in a tag.
On a social media post, Sophie wrote: ‘Not sure why some people can be so pathetic.
‘The police are aware it’s parked there as it’s not safe to drive it home!
Sophie said the graffiti scraped off easily because of the frost – but she’s still worried it could devalue it further (Picture: Sophie Nash/SWNS)
‘The scrap man is collecting it Thursday afternoon, if it’s devalued anymore I’ll be very pissed off!
‘Imagine I come to your house and spray paint all over it. It’s not even a decent tag for god’s sake. GROW UP.
‘Edit: PS it scrapes off easily because of the frost so it was a waste of time really.’
The mum-of-one had skidded when she braked when going around a bend, hit a a grass verge and a tree stump before spinning and ending up sideways across both lanes.
Miraculously Sophie was unharmed and alerted the police to the incident.
She left the car in a layby until it could be towed away, and was picked up by her partner.
However to her shock, when she returned to her car on Wednesday morning she found it covered in graffiti.
Sophie is now unable to get to work or drop her four-year-old daughter off at school until she replaces her car, which was written off from the incident.
She said: ‘It’s been valued at £250 from the scrap man but if they give me any less because of the spray paint I’ll be rather annoyed.’
The graffiti shows a ‘massive lack of respect by some people’, she said, and believes the vandalism occurred between 8pm on Tuesday and 8am yesterday.
