Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has urged Gunners captain Martin Odegaard to ‘do more’ and replicate club legend Dennis Bergkamp.
Odegaard was a star performer for the north Londoners last term, producing 15 goals and eight assists across 37 Premier League matches.
This season, the Norway international has scored four goals and registered two assists across 11 top-flight games but Gallas wants Odegaard to step up more.
‘I really like Martin Odegaard but I want him to do more and think he can do more, not only because he is the captain, but because he has the quality,’ Gallas told Lord Ping.
‘He has to do more. I want to see him making the difference in every single game if he wants to go to another level.
‘When I compared him to Dennis Bergkamp, Bergkamp was a player that could do something special in almost every game, whether that was a goal or an assist.
‘If Odegaard wants to reach Bergkamp’s level, he has to do more. If you want to win the Premier League, you need a player like Odegaard on fire.’

Meanwhile, Gallas has compared Arsenal star Bukayo Saka to football icon Arjen Robben.
‘He is a player that is so dangerous because he has the ability to do so many different things,’ Gallas added. ‘A player that was a little bit similar who I played with was Arjen Robben.
‘Robben was a very difficult player to stop, and Saka is the same. If I had to compare Saka to one player that I played with, then it would be Robben. Both guys have a beautiful left foot and brilliant movement.’
