Wilder-Fury 3: Wilder wants $20m to let Joshua fight happen
The Tyson Fury v Anthony Joshua fight is expected to be delayed after American boxer Deontay Wilder requested $20 million to step aside and let the much-anticipated fight go ahead.
Fury had agreed to face fellow Brit Joshua in an August bout in Saudi Arabia.
But Wilder’s team forced arbitration which concluded he had a right to face Fury for the third time and by 15 September.
Fury has said Wilder “asked for $20m to move over,” and added: “Looks like I will have to crack his skull again.”
Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott posted on Instagram, stating Wilder “declined and had no interest in step-aside money.”
“He wants blood and not step-aside money,” Scott posted. “Retribution is upon us.”
Fury vs Wilder
A third fight between Fury and Wilder was slated for 2020 but Covid restriction and an injury to Wilder prompted Fury to focus on fighting Anthony Joshua.
But just 24 hours after the Fury v Joshua fight was confirmed for 14 August in Saudi Arabia, Wilder’s team found out their arbitration hearing was successful.
