Barcelona and Spotify have announced that Drake’s OVO owl logo will be displayed on the club’s shirts during their El Clasico clash with Real Madrid today.
Spotify are the usual sponsors on the front of the iconic Blaugrana jersey but the streaming giants have given up their space on the front of the shirts to celebrate the Canadian superstar.
But why exactly are Barcelona wearing Drake’s OVO logo when they take to the pitch in the top of the table clash at the Santiago Bernabeu this afternoon?
Here’s everything you need to know.
Why are Barcelona players wearing Drake’s OVO logo against Real Madrid?
Barcelona players are wearing the logo on their shirts in recognition of Drake becoming the first artist in history to reach 50 billion streams on Spotify.
The owl is the logo of Drake’s brand, with the singer having won countless awards throughout his illustrious career, including four Grammys.

Barcelona’s vice-president of marketing, Juli Guiu, said: ‘For the first time in our history, we are replacing the name of our main partner on the front of the jersey with an internationally acclaimed artist in Drake, winner of four Grammy awards and record breaker in different categories, such as being the first artist to accumulate 50 billion streams on Spotify.
‘This initiative shows our potential to become a unique platform to offer experiences that help bring us closer to our fans while reaching out to new audiences around the world.’
Marc Hazan, Spotify’s vice president of partnerships, added: ‘We were really excited to celebrate one of the biggest games of the year and mark Drake’s milestone as the first artist to reach 50 billion streams.
‘We’ve always said that we want this partnership to be a celebration of fans, players and artist’s on a global stage – and there’s no bigger stage than El Clasico.’

Barcelona players will also be wearing a special warm-up top ahead of kick-off in Madrid, with the name Drake and the number 50 on the back of the shirts.
Spotify signed a five-year, £236million sponsorship deal with Barcelona in March 2022, which saw the company become the team’s official front of shirt sponsor.
The deal also gave the Swedish streaming service the naming rights to their stadium, which is now officially known as Spotify Camp Nou.
