Who will replace Boris Johnson? Rishi Sunak odds
Former Chancellor Rishi Sunak dramatically quit 48hrs ago, triggering a mass exodus of MPs quitting the government (59 MP resignations at present). Sunak was once seen as the future of the Conservative party and was seen for a long time as the most likely option to replace Boris Johnson.
However, the last few months have been tough for Sunak, whose once sparkling reputation has been dampened a bit following controversy over his wife’s tax affairs. He also received a fine for breaching lockdown rules.
But he is still one of the favourites to replace the PM – he’s still widely respected for his furlough scheme and for keeping the economy afloat over the pandemic.
Sunak isn’t known for splashing the cash, he sees himself as a low tax and spends Tory on the Thatcherite wing of the party.
He became an MP in 2015 for the North Yorkshire constituency of Richmond and by February 2020 he was Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Has Rishi Sunak quit politics?
Many have reviewed Rishi Sunak’s resignation letter – which states he recognises “this may be my last ministerial job” as well as the prime minister’s response, which unlike Sajid Javid’s response from the PM, didn’t mention Rishi Sunak working from the backbenches.
Some have suggested Rishi Sunak will be leaving politics and may relocate to California.
