What better way to nurse a New Year’s Eve hangover than by tuning into some heartwarming Great British Bake Off?
Not only is the Channel 4 series serving up an episode full of the usual joy found in the famous tent tonight, but fans of the show will have a chance to watch some of their favourite bakers return.
The Great New Year Bake Off 2023 will see judges Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith join presenters Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas to welcome back four familiar faces.
Given Matt recently announced he’s leaving the programme as one of the co-hosts, it appears this would be his final appearance.
So who’s taking part in the competition to mark the start of the new year?
Who is taking part in The Great New Year Bake Off 2023?
The four returning baking aficionados coming back to vie for the New Year’s crown on tonight’s episode are sure to put smiles on their audience’s faces.
First up, we have Chigs Parmar, who reached the final of Bake Off in 2021.
Two 2018 competitors will join him in the tent – Antony Amourdoux and Manon Lagrève.
Lastly, 2020 star Lottie Bedlow will be rounding off the line-up. And what a brilliant one it is!
When the programme was announced in early December, Chigs expressed his excitement with a post shared on Instagram, writing: ‘Getting the opportunity to be in the Bake Off tent once is a dream come true, but baking in it twice 🤯.’
Lottie added: ‘Sucker for punishment me…but what a pleasure it was to go back and bake with these legends.’
She added: ‘So good to see the crew and team again too – now we know @realmattlucas is leaving, it feels extra special that we had another chance to be in the tent with him and @noel_fielding ! X.’
Manon wrote: ‘It’s time to see how my second stint in the @britishbakeoff tent went 4 years later! So many memories of fun, hard work, and the start of my new career in the food industry 👩🍳.
‘It was nice to be back! Looking forward to watch it with you tonight (I have Not seen the episode!) and hope you’ll be watching with a piece of cake (I better start baking now!).’
Antony also shared how delighted he was to take part, writing: ‘In for one last hurrah in the very coveted British Tent w. Some fab bakers.’
