The transfer merry-go-round returns next month with the January 2023 transfer window set to open shortly.
Clubs from around Europe will be looking to bolster their squads for the second half of the season – even if signing players has proved tricky in the recent editions of the winter transfer window due to inflated asking prices during the middle of the season.
But clubs who are prepared to be patient could be in for a bargain in the summer, with a number of players out of contract next year, meaning they will be able to move on a free transfer.
Here is a look at some of the hottest players who are out of contract with their clubs in June 2023.
Which players are out of contract with their clubs in 2023?
Some of the best talent in the world are entering the final six months of their contracts.
This includes arguably the greatest of them all – Lionel Messi – who only joined PSG on a two year contract in 2021.

When can players with expiring contracts sign with another club?
Players can enter into negotiations with another club if they have entered the last six months of their contract.
This means that players who are out of contract in June 2023 will be able to begin talking with potential new employees in January 2023.
However, players looking to sign for a team in the same country as their existing club can only do so in the final month of their contract.
