As anyone commuting will know, UK railways have faced major disruption since summer 2022.
More is on the way in January 2023, with the first week of the New Year being hit by strikes from unions RMT and ASLEF, as train workers fight for higher pay amid other issues.
Many, of course, will support workers’ right to strike – but likewise also rely on the rail for transport, and for that reason might be wondering when the strike is due to end.
Here’s what you need to know.
When will the train strike in January 2023 end?
The latest rail strikes start today (Tuesday, January 3) and end on Saturday, January 7.
RMT strikes are happening on January 3 ,4, 6 and 7, while ASLEF’s strike will hit for a day on January 5.

As a result train companies across the UK will operate very limited services or no service at all – with the official advice being not to travel, unless your journey is absolutely necessary.
If you’re unsure what this means for the rail company you use, visit their website – as they’ll have a page dedicated to service updates, which will share any updated timetables.
It’s also worth noting that there’ll be some disruption on London public transport as a result – including reduced service on the Elizabeth Line and Tubes including the Bakerloo, Circle, and District lines, TfL warns.
And train workers aren’t the only ones on strike – plenty of industries are being hit by January walkouts across the UK.
