The kids are back at school for the summer term and the house is finally peaceful again.
However, despite enjoying three May bank holidays and a half term coming up, we’re sure many students across the UK will be counting down the days until the summer holidays.
Following exams across the UK, students will be eagerly awaiting the final bell of the school day ready for six weeks of fun in the sun.
But when exactly do the summer holidays begin, and for parents bracing themselves for the chaos, when does the autumn term start?
Here are the important dates.
When do UK schools break up for the summer holidays in 2023?
Term times in England and Wales are usually the same, but it is advised to check with your local authority for holiday dates, or directly with the school.

It’s quick and easy to do with your postcode on the government website.
As the summer holidays approach, as a general guide, schools in England and Wales will break up on Tuesday, July 25, while those in Wales finish a day later on Tuesday, July 25.
Schools in Scotland will break up slightly earlier, with the summer holidays beginning on Monday, June 26 for some, through to Monday, July 3 for others.
This will differ by region, and it’s best to use your postcode to check on the Scottish government’s website.
In Northern Ireland, the summer holidays will begin on Tuesday, July 4.
When does the autumn term 2023 begin?
After a lengthy break, schools across the UK will return for the autumn term.

In England, the autumn term will begin on Tuesday, September 5, following an inset day on Monday, September 4.
Schools in Wales and Northern Ireland will return to class slightly earlier on Friday, September 1.
In Scotland, children will return to school on Wednesday, August 16, following in service days on the Monday and Tuesday.
As with summer holiday dates, these could differ by region, and parents are advised to check term dates on their local council website.
