Christmas is coming, and school kids all over the UK are counting down the days until school’s out.
They know that Santa Claus is coming to town so they’re likely on their best behaviour too – the perfect time to have them home for the holidays.
So just when is school out for the season?

When do schools break up for the Christmas holidays?
England’s Christmas school holiday dates
Most schools in England will break up for the holidays on Friday, December 16.

They will then return in the first full week of January, most likely on Tuesday 3 since Monday 2 is the New Year Bank holiday.

Scotland’s Christmas school holiday dates
Scottish schools close for Christmas a bit later than England’s do, wrapping up for Christmas at 2:30pm on Thursday, December 22.
They’ll go back on Wednesday, January 4 as the Tuesday is a special Scottish Bank Holiday.
The dates vary by council, so you should check the Scottish Government website ahead of time.

Christmas school holiday dates in Wales
Half-term dates in Wales tend to mirror England. So, most schools will break up on Friday, December 16.
The majority of students will then go back to school on Tuesday, January 3.
As always, these dates can vary slightly depending on where you live, so find the exact dates for your child’s school by using the Welsh Government postcode checker.
Christmas school holiday dates in Northern Ireland
All schools in Northern Ireland will break up for Christmas on Friday, December 23.
The first day of term will then kick off early in the New Year on Tuesday, January 3.
