Football might not have come home – but the Fair Play award for the World Cup 2022 did.
After the dramatic final between Argentina and France on Sunday, it was revealed that England had won the award following their displays on the pitch in Qatar.
But what exactly is the Fair Play award that will be heading to the FA headquarters?
Here are the all important details.
What is the Fair Play award?
The Fair Play award is handed out to the team with the best disciplinary record at the World Cup.

Only teams which qualify for the knockout stages are considered for the award.
England only picked up one yellow card at Qatar 2022 – Harry Maguire was booked for elbowing Antoine Griezmann in the 90th minute of the Three Lions’ quarter-final defeat.
England will be given the FIFA Fair Play Trophy, a diploma, a medal for each player and staff member, and just over £40,000 worth of football equipment to aid youth development.

This is not the first time the Three Lions have won the award, having first done so at Italia 90 before sharing the trophy with hosts France in 1998.
Brazil are the team with the most Fair Play awards to their name with four.
