Wet Leg had a stellar night at their first Brit Awards, taking home two awards – and they also provided us with one of the most iconic moments.
The rock band who, amazingly, were only formed in 2019, have enjoyed an incredible year following the release of their self-titled debut album, resulting in them bagging both group of the year and best new artist.
Taking to the stage to give their acceptance speech, the group – comprising of Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers – were overcome with emotion, expressing their gratitude.
But, they couldn’t leave the stage without at least one cheeky political dig, right?
ITV attempted to censor the expletive, but viewers at home most definitely caught it, as the speech ended with: ‘F**k the Tories’.
Well, it wouldn’t be the Brits without such a gag, right?

It’s safe to say Twitter was living for the sly dig, branding the declaration ‘iconic.’
One person tweeted: ‘wet leg are so real for saying f**k the tories at the end of their speech’.
‘I’m Wet Leg’s biggest fan now after the guitarist ended their acceptance speech with “F**k The Tories”,’ another tweeted.
Another wasn’t happy, though, accusing the broadcaster of censoring the band.
‘Wet Leg were censored on TV for saying “F**k the Tories”. They should be able to express their views without being bleeped. Outrageous’, they wrote.

It wasn’t all expletives, though, as the band also offered their heartfelt thanks for taking home their awards.
Speaking after their best group win, Hester Chambers said it was ‘crazy’ to have bagged the trophy in the same category with the likes of The 1975 and Arctic Monkeys.
Rhian said: ‘Big shoutout to Lava La Rue who creative-directed the show tonight.’
One of their backing band added: ‘I promised Rhian I would say this: they build small ships and they build big ships but they don’t build friendships!

‘This is really cool, thanks very much. I don’t know what else to say.’
Other big winners of the night were Harry Styles, who led the nominations this year with four.
