Watch LIVE – Qatar 2022: Gareth Southgate names England World Cup squad
Midfielder James Maddison and forwards Marcus Rashford and Callum Wilson are named in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England squad for the World Cup in Qatar.
Conor Gallagher, Kalvin Phillips and Trent Alexander-Arnold are going to the World Cup. Ben White and Kieran Trippier also make it.
There were of course some expected names in there: Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Bukayo Saka, and Jordan Pickford.
No Ivan Toney, Tammy Abraham or Jared Bowen
There’s no space in the squad for Ivan Toney, Tammy Abraham or Jarrod Bowen but Kyle Walker and Kalvin Philips – who have a lack of match fitness – are in.
And controversial Harry Maguire is in the team despite his poor performances at Manchester United – and lack of match fitness.
The 26-man team have been announced ahead of the final round of Premier League games this weekend – Southgate and England will be praying the players make it through unscathed.
